The currency in Costa Rica is Colones, but the US Dollar is also accepted. It’s pproximately 500 Colones to 1 U.S.D. There is one ATM in Nosara at Banco Popular. You can use your VISA credit card here to get cash out, however, it is always a good idea to get cash ahead of time in the U.S. since there can be a long line at the bank and the machine is not always working. The only acceptable credit card in Costa Rica is Visa. Master Card is starting to be accepted in various places. Credit Card charges will incur a 7-8% additional fee, so cash is preferred.
