La Jolla, California, January 18, 2010 – Due to popular demand from their students, Surf Diva is expanding northward from their home base in La Jolla, CA.  "We feel like this is a great time to grow our school, especially in an economy where surfing provides the perfect release from stress,” explains Izzy Tihanyi, founder and co-owner.  "Our program is unique in that we are more interested in the journey and enjoying every step of the way than trying to compete with the others in the lineup. It's not about the destination but getting out of the rat race and moving at a different pace –your own pace.”

"During a recession women buy more lipstick, chocolate and gym memberships.  Surf Diva fits right in with that vision of taking care of yourself both emotionally and physically,” said Coco Tihanyi, co-owner & Izzy’s twin sister. “Getting in the water washes off all your problems from the day and you come out after surfing or SUP-ing, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.”

The twins launched the La Jolla surf program back in 1996 and have been featured in top publications including the Wall Street Journal, Inc. Magazine, The Los Angeles Times and were awarded “Small Business of the Year” by the state of California.  They are currently running a successful operation in La Jolla and Costa Rica.  Their take on LA?  “We love LA!  We were born in the city, and feel like this is such a welcoming place with its rich history, surf culture and an amazingly creative vibe.  Venice Beach is a perfect place to learn to surf with consistent waves, great local surf shops, restaurants and a fantastic year-round climate,” says co-owner Izzy Tihanyi.

Surf Diva received a beach permit for Venice Beach this year and will begin offering lessons on January 23, 2010, for their soft launch.  Stay tuned for their LA Grand Opening, which includes a VIP Party, free surfing workshops, and standup paddleboard demos later this year.
