Surf Diva Owners honored at the University of California, San Diego’s (UCSD) “Walk the Walk” Event!

 

La Jolla, California – November 10, 2008 – Izzy & Coco Tihanyi, co-owners of Surf Diva, Inc. are delighted to announce the honorable display of their names at the University of California (UC),  San Diego’s “Walk the Walk” initiative.

 

Beginning September 21, 2008 through to October 31, 2008, blue and gold banners showcasing many of UC San Diego’s outstanding alumni were displayed along Library Walk.  From local names such as CEO and Founder of MP3.com, Michael Robertson, to those with global influence like Connie Mariano, Physician to the President of the U.S, and Nobel-prize winning doctor, Susumu Tonegawa. 

 

“Our goal is to help make incoming students appreciate the astonishing community of alumni they will join upon graduation,” said Armin Afsashi ’90, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Alumni Affairs.  “As we launch this new tradition on campus, we hope to build bridges between students.” The banners offer inspiration to the current and incoming UC San Diego students to follow the footsteps of their talented alumni.  Twin sisters and UC San Diego Alumna, Izzy & Coco, have been sharing their Triton-pride through offering College Internships.

 

“We are honored to be given this opportunity to share our passion in surfing and fashion with our fellow UC San Diego students.  It’s such a great honor to see our names placed alongside prominent scientists, authors, and producers!”  comments Coco Tihanyi, CFO and co-owner of Surf Diva, Inc.

A joint venture of the UCSD Alumni Association and UC San Diego Student Affairs Division, the “Walk the Walk” initiative is the first of many such partnerships that help connect the lives of current students with their alumni family and communicate the core values of a UCSD education on campus and beyond.  The program also encourages students to reach for their dreams by illustrating the extraordinary accomplishments of the alumni on whose shoulders they now stand.”
