be traveling on my own. Do many women attend the Surf Diva Costa Rica
Surf Adventure on their own?
Yes!!! We have many women
who go on our Costa Rica trip solo. You won't be alone for long,
though. You're bound to meet lots of new surfer friends on your
adventure.
Is there a maximum age? Is there a minimum age?
Surfers going on the Costa Rica adventure must be at least 18, unless it is a designated family week. There is no maximum age!
Can men join the Costa Rica Surf Adventure?
Men can go on the Costa Rica adventure during family weeks only.
What time should I book my flight to Costa Rica? How about the return flight?
Our
Surf Diva shuttle will pick you up in San Jose at 11 am, so you would
want your flight to arrive before 9:30 am on the morning that camp
starts. If there are not flights that land early Sunday morning, you
can always book a flight to arrive the day before and stay the night in
San Jose.
Our shuttle will return you to the San Jose airport by 2 pm on the last day of camp. To allow enough time for customs, please book a flight for after 3:30 pm.
What is the average water temperature?
Water temperatures in Costa Rica range from the high 70's to mid 80's.
What if I have no surf experience?
The adventure is designed for beginning to advanced surfers. Just let the office know your ability level when you sign up.
What can I do to get in shape before I join the Costa Rica Surf Adventure?
Any
exercise you can do to get yourself in shape will be beneficial. More
specifically, you can practice yoga, run, do pushups, swim, skateboard,
or snowboard. For more great surfing and fitness tips check out Surf Diva: A Girl's Guide to Getting Good Waves by Izzy and Coco Tihanyi.
When is the best time to travel to Costa Rica?
We
run camps in Costa Rica from November through August. These are the
best months to go, because it is not the rainy season and the weather
is generally very pleasant. Starting in June it may start to rain in
the afternoons, but you'll still be able to get in some good surf
sessions.
Do I have to pay for the entire trip upfront? Can I pay a deposit?
It
is best to pay for the Costa Rica Adventure in full. If you cannot do
so, we will accept a deposit to reserve your spot of $500. Full
payment must be made 60 days prior to the start date of camp. To pay
only a deposit upon booking, you MUST call the Surf Diva Office at
(858) 454-8273 ext. 13. Online registrants will be charged the full
amount.
What airlines would you recommend?
This
depends on where you are flying in from. Some airlines that fly to
Costa Rica are United, TACA, Continental, U.S. Airways, American
Airlines, and Mexicana, and Air Canada.
What kind of equipment is provided?
All
of your surfing equipment will be provided. We have foam boards for
our beginning surfers and our Surf Diva Tuflite boards for once you are
ready to progress to the next level. To check out these boards you can
enter our Surf Diva online store at www.surfdiva.com.
We also have body boards available for those divas who would rather not surf.
In addition to board usage, each camper will get their own Surf Diva rashguard. And wetsuits? Don't worry about it! With water temperatures in the high 70's, there'll be no need for a wetsuit.
What other activities will be available?
During
your week in Costa Rica you will have time to enjoy some of the other
wonderful activities Costa Rica has to offer such as horseback riding,
zip line jungle tours, jungle walks, beach excursions, and of course
daily yoga sessions!

hanging out with our Surf Divas and if you change your mind, you are
always welcome to join the surfers. We also have body boards available
for those who want to enjoy the warm waters.
What are the accommodations like? Can I get my own room?

accommodation you stay in depends on which Surf Diva package you
book. For a complete description of each property, please check out
the accommodations link on this website. A limited number of single rooms are available.
What is the Surf Diva Cancellation Policy?
To view our cancellation policy in full, please visit our Rates and Dates page.
What happens if the surf conditions are not good for surfing?
Occasionally,
conditions can be unsafe to surf in. In this case the session will be
postponed until the winds or tides change for the better. Surf Diva is
not responsible for any missed lessons due to wave conditions. We will
do our best to reschedule the missed lesson and alternative activities
will be suggested.
Where exactly in Costa Rica are you located?
We
surf on the Pacific side of Costa Rica near Nicoya. We don't reveal
the exact name of the town until you book. One of the beauties of this
beach is that it is so uncrowded and we want to do our best to keep it
that way. Once you are signed up, we will let you know where it is so
you can let your family and friends know where you will be!!
