Surf FIT

Want to get into surfing shape but don’t know where to start? Surf FIT™ is for you. Surf Diva brings you two of San Diego’s top outdoor recreation companies to create a new and unique program for women who want to surf. We have joined forces with Bootique Fitness to create a comprehensive fitness and surf training lineup for women. Surf FIT™ is about getting in the best surfing shape of your life while improving surfing skills each week. You will be trained to avoid making the same mistake twice. Break the bad habits you have developed now, learn how to better read waves and timing. Surf FIT™ will take you to the next level while in an encouraging and fun environment!
The class consists of a 45 minute Tuesday/Thursday (6:45am-7:30am) beach workout by elite fitness trainer Jaylin Allen, founder and owner of Bootique Fitness, and a 1.5 hour Saturday (9am-10:30am) in-water surf class all at La Jolla Shores with Surf Diva’s world class instructors. Activities during the dry-land workouts include fine tuning pop-ups, paddling, balance, and endurance. Each week a different theme is offered such as the lifeguard workout, the deep sand workout, the beach blanket workout, and the board bonanza workout. If you want a tough workout without being at the gym all day, this program will take you to your limit and have you home in time for breakfast. Evening options may become available for those who work early and need an evening class.

continuously change up the classes to give you the best results in the
smallest amount of time!
We use an exclusive combination of

surfboards, body-weight exercises and creative tools to increase your
strength, stability, power, core and flexibility leaving you feeling
strong and looking great on your wave.
What if I can’t do an exercise?
Everyone
will be instructed to work at their own level. We will show you
modifications to make exercises more or less challenging depending on
your ability. This class welcomes all fitness levels!
What should I eat before boot camp?
You
don’t need to eat a lot – something small (amount varies per person)
and something you can tolerate before working out. It needs to be easy
to digest: high carbohydrate, moderate protein and low fat.
If you
can handle it, it’s a good idea to have just a small, easily digestible
snack 15 minutes to two hours before training (around 100-150 calories).
If you’ve got some readily available fuel in your body, you’ll do much
better in your workout.
Ideally you want a mix of carbs and protein to maximize your training. Here are some fueling ideas:
-
1 piece of whole wheat toast with a little peanut butter
- 1/2 or 1
whole banana, apple, orange
- 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal (not the instant
kind that’s full of sugar)
- 6 oz yogurt (this is a combination food –
it contains carbs and protein)
- 1 hard boiled egg
.
Make sure you’re hydrated, too. For any intensive workout, you
might benefit from a sports drink (like Gatorade) that contain
carbohydrate calories and electrolytes.
What is your rain policy?
Boot
Camp –On most days, we will still work out unless there is lightning.
You should never assume boot camp is canceled. Expect a text message
from your instructor for a weather related cancellation. You can call
your instructor to make sure.
What do I get when I sign up?
You receive 2 boot camp sessions a week, a weekly surf lesson, a free board rental for your surf lesson,
Bootique Fitness’s signature success and nutrition guides and weekly tips on fitness, nutrition and mindset.
What kinds of people go to camp?
They
are people just like you. Some people are just starting out and wanting
to learn to surf and others are looking for the strength, flexibility,
balance and technique to take their surfing to the next level. All
participants are looking for the benefit that comes from training with a
fitness professional in a group atmosphere of women that support and
encourage each other.
Will I feel sore?
Soreness is often a
sign or pushing yourself to limits you haven’t been to before. While,
you will likely feel soreness as you progress, this kind of soreness
will be mild.
What results can I expect to achieve?
You can
expect to see performance improvements in as little as 3 days. Everyone
is different and will progress at their own rate. We promise to always
work you at your best level while encouraging you to get to the next
level.
Though this program is designed to make you a great
surfer, these workouts will also make you fitter, leaner and stronger.
Expect to see your arms, abs and thighs trim down and tone up.
What is the investment?
Memberships can be purchased in four-week sessions. That’s 8 boot camps and 4 surf lessons for $297.
What if I can’t do the full program due to my schedule?
As
an alternative to full membership, you can purchase a ‘Points Pass’.
With a Points Pass, you can design your own schedule and pay for classes
using your points. Each boot camp is valued at 1 point and each surf
lesson is valued at 3 points.
